Publisher's Letter

Dear Concerned Waterfowler:

Since launching Madduck in 2002, we have been continually overwhelmed by the growing support and engagement of our duck-hunting brethren. Our whole purpose in creating Madduck was to stimulate debate and motivate duck hunters to become better informed about waterfowl issues. We truly believe that as hunters become better informed about the major issues, they will become proactive in pushing for the changes we feel are desperately needed to help our ducks. Our essays present alternative viewpoints on facts, policies and decisions that directly impact our waterfowl and hunting heritage.

To further engage our readers we have now upgraded our web site to include a Forum, a Blogosphere, and a search capability to allow our readers to easily access topics of interest from our archives. It is our hope that this more interactive capability will further stimulate discussion and expand our reach to an even larger audience of concerned waterfowlers.

We have no sponsors. We are not a membership organization. We are beholden to no persons or organizations or commercial interests. We have no political baggage or obligations. We simply want what is best for the ducks. As our motto says: “If we take care of the ducks, the ducks will take care of us”.

Our effectiveness as a grass roots movement has increased as a direct result of our increasing readership. Since we do no advertising, our future growth comes from word of mouth. We feel that to become even more effective, we need to broaden our reach by connecting with more readers.  We seek your help to make this possible.

Many of our readers have signed up for the automatic alert of new postings. However, without this reminder we feel that some of our readers miss critical postings. Therefore, we are asking our readers to encourage their friends and associates to sign up for the alert. If this makes anyone uncomfortable, we simply ask that you forward your alert on to these people and encourage them to explore the Madduck site and become more involved by participating in the future decision making regarding our waterfowl.  Please be assured that we do not sell or share our e-mail lists with anyone. Your confidentiality is maintained under the strictest standards.

We thank you for your past readership.

Sincerely,

Peter Stent, Publisher
